Stabel

The idea for the project derived during the corona lockdown - a turbulent time where we all had to readjust and adapt our daily activities within the confines of our homes. Despite the many challenges and limitations, life tied to the home also made us more aware of the way we use our time and resources. The new opportunities in digitizing our work, schooling and studies have meant that more people today find it suiting to work and study from home. A number of needs therefore naturally arise that creates new prerequisites for the furniture we have in our home. Based on a time where the territories of the workplace and the home are now beginning to overlap, we have developed a storage unit, versatile both in its use and context.
The furniture's concept is based on a fusion between a traditional chest of drawers and a storage box and accommodates a more dynamic and changeable everyday life. In order to fit the furniture into a broad practical and spacious context, the system is designed with modules that can be stacked in two directions. As the drawers can be pulled out from both sides, the furniture is suitable in free-standing surroundings where it takes on a strong sculptural character. The dense and strict grain pattern that characterizes the wood type, Oregon Pine refers to the furniture's directions and emphasizes the delicate details in a graphic interplay. From a distance the grain condenses into a warm and reddish tone creating a calm and balanced expression.
